Frozen in Time.....

On, October 28, 2012, Montclair Ambulance Unit began operations in what later would be termed as New Jersey's largest 9-1-1 call, Superstorm Sandy. MAU's week long operation accumulated to over 1000 man-hours lasting through November 3 including deployments as part of the New Jersey EMS Task Force.

During the week, MAU established an Emergency Operation Center to coordinate EMS activities in Montclair, help coordinate mutual aid requests and work closely with police and fire services.

Sandy affected 24 states, including the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine and west across the Appalachian Mountains to Michigan and Wisconsin, with particularly severe damage in New Jersey and New York. Damage in the United States amounted to $71.4 billion.

 - Hurricane Jose will bring coastal flooding, beach erosion, gusty winds and rain to the mid-Atlantic and New England coasts much of this week.
Jose, currently a Category 1 hurricane, is expected to pass within 200 hundred miles of the coast on its closest approach around midweek. By this point, Jose will either remain at minimal-hurricane intensity, weaken to a tropical storm or become a sub-tropical system.
The possibility remains for Jose to make landfall in southeastern New England, depending on how quickly the storm turns to the northeast.

Into this weekend, Maria will be guided by an area of high pressure over the western Atlantic.
A high pressure area is a large dome of air that rotates clockwise. This particular high pressure area is largely responsible for the warm and humid weather pattern currently gripping the central and eastern United States.
The latest indications are that Maria will not plow as far to the west beyond Hispaniola as Irma did. Irma moved westward to the Florida Keys, then made a rather abrupt northward turn across the Florida Peninsula.
