Frozen in Time.....

Montclair, NJ - Montclair Ambulance Unit's 7th Annual St. Patrick's Day Benefit has been declared an overwheling success by organizers.

The highlighting of the event was the honoring two long time supporters and former trustees, Diane Esty & Charles Fischer of the Montclair Foundation/VanVleck House and Gardens.

Both have long supported the Mission of MAU through the years with their generosity and knowledge.

The evening started with music by JazzHouse Kids which wowed those in attendance. In between sets from JHK was a quartet from the Ahern Sheehan School of Irish Dance (performing for the seventh year) and the Essex County Police and Fire Pipe and Drum Corps.

Traditional Irish fare from the Cloverleaf Tavern left no one hungry all the way through dessert.

Plans are already underway for the 2019 event. Keep your eye on and our social media for more information in the coming months.

On, December 9, 2011, Montclair Ambulance Unit said goodbye to longtime staffer Robert Whitehill as he finished his last shift at MAU.

Robert would go on to author the Ben Blackshaw Series, a successful book franchise that will soon be major motion picture.

Starting as a volunteer and later a career member of MAU, Robert spent his shift downtime penning the first of four Blackshaw thrillers, Deadrise, which he dedicated to his fellow EMTs at MAU. At the end Robert acknowledged his colleagues writing:

"The steadfast men and women named here, many of whom served on the pile in New York City on September 11th, 2001, or who have served us bravely and with great sacrifice in the military, are supported by a dedicated board of directors, a crack team of Advanced Life Support medics, and our area emergency department doctors, nurses, and staff. Officers of the Montclair Police Department and firefighters of the Montclair Fire Department are always eager to lend a helping hand with our toughest cases. Together, they make the life-or-death difference on a 911 call in our town. I have witnessed miracles with them."

Robert will always be a member of the MAU family.
