Community outreach

Launched in 2010, Community Outreach is our public education branch. MAUCO goes out into the communities that we serve to connect with the residents and teach them about EMS and what we do.

Our program start at the youngest levels teaching school aged children what the Emergency Medical Service is and what an Emergency Medical Technician does.

The program involves a "classroom" style presentation and tours of an MAU ambulance and even our Walnut Street Headquarters. MAUCO also takes the lead for our EMS Week events. Events in the past have included, blood pressure screenings, open house tours of our Headquarters and special events with local youth organizations.

Another popular service is attendance at school aged children parties where the kids have the opportunity to have an ambulance present at their birthday party and receive a tour of the ambulance, a brief safety talk or message of importance. The highlight for the children is most often the opportunity to sound the siren.

MAUCO also offers educational opportunities for individuals, families, Boy and Girl Scout troops and local businesses. MAUCO offers First Aid and CPR classes, as well as, emergency preparedness classes.
