Career EMT Application Instructions

All candidates, career and volunteer, must complete the application and interview process to be considered for a position with MAU.

​​Per Diem EMT 

The position requires an experienced, responsible person who is willing to work with both paid and volunteer staff. 

Candidates must have a minimum 2 years of "in the field" 9-1-1 EMS experience and be able to submit a minimum availability of six (6) shifts per month, of which, one (1) must be a weekend shift and 2 minor and one major holidays per year, as defined by the agency. 

Required Certifications 
•Current NJ EMT, NJ MICP, NREMT, or other certifications accepted by NJDOH 
•Current AHA, NSC or ARC, ASHI Professional Rescuer/Healthcare Provider Level CPR 
•ICS-200, NIMS-700, IS-800, CEVO/EVOC (within three months of hire) 

•Must be 21 years of age or older 
•Minimum of two years active pre-hospital 9-1-1 EMS experience (volunteer or career) 
•Valid driver license 
•Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently 
•Ability to lift and carry at least 200 pounds with assistance 
•Basic computer use with simple data entry (electronic charting) 
•Proficiency in operating emergency vehicles and related equipment 
•Thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques and protocols contained in the NJ EMT curriculum

•Work in harmony with other EMS and public safety providers 
•Establish rapport and trust with patients 
•Understand and carry out oral and written directions
