9-1-1 basic life support

MAU operates one of the busiest 9-1-1 services in Essex County, responding to over 3500 requests for service per year in Montclair. With 38,000 residents in a 6.3 square mile area that includes 21 educational institutions (including the 18,000 student Montclair State University), 7 rail stations, 17 parks, six distinctive business districts, two ice skating venues, including Clary Anderson Arena, and more than a dozen long term care facilities that create a diverse and challenging environment for MAU.

Montclair Ambulance Unit also provides mutual aid to Essex County municipalities and is a member of the New Jersey EMS Task Force.

All MAU employees share one singular focus - a relentless commitment to continually improving patient care. Ambulances are staffed at our centrally located Walnut Street location to provide optimal coverage and allow for the quickest response times

MAU has the resources available to add additional crews that can be put into service due to increased call volume, special events or other emergency situations. The goal is to ensure that at any given moment, a MAU unit can reach every address within our response area with little or no delay.
